Rita Jane Murphy

Rita Jane Murphy passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in Naples, Florida.

Preceded in death by her parents Elvin Posey and Myrtle Beatty; husband, Paul H. Murphy; and son, Jan Murphy.

Rita’s descendants include 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 21 great great grandchildren as follows:

Jan’s descendants are; Rita’s Grandchildren, John(KathyLynn), Christine(Kent), Michael(Leslie) and Daniel; Great Grandchildren; Joshua, Ryan, Kaitlin, Shane, Alyssa, Robert, Mitchell, Andrew, Adam, Madison; Great Great Grandchildren; Roman, Ryder, Rhynlee, Raelynn, Tucker, Tanner, Emory, Rogue, Rhett, Josie, Jameson, Aila, Mason, Kash, Mila, Kylee, and another boy.
Survived by son, Jim Murphy(Karen) Lehigh Acres, FL; Grandchildren, Andrea(Jeff) and Brett(Shelley) ; Great Grandchildren, Megan, Brittany and Jessica; Great Great Grandchildren; Rory, Bode, Jett, Camden, Nora, and Weston.
Survived by daughter, Jennifer Brinkman(Rick) Naples, FL; Grandchildren, Brad(Sara) and David; Great Grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer and Alison.
Rita was born April 2, 1921 in Helena, Ohio. Rita and Paul lived in rural Burgoon, Ohio and in 1979 moved to Naples, Florida. She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Rita was a homemaker and talented garment maker, making all of her clothes and many for her family. Rita had a long life of 103 years and enjoyed talking about her many experiences, travels and ancestors. Most of all she loved to be surrounded by family and never ran out of love to share. She was a refuge in the storms of life for many in the family. Her main focus was being the best mother and grandmother that she could be, accomplishing this 100%. Her gatherings for dinners and birthdays and her many lovingly made baked goods are great memories. Rita’s compassion and love were felt by everyone she met. She will be sorely missed on this earth. Heaven just added another angel.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 26 at 10am at Naples Memorial Gardens. The family will gather later for a Celebration of Life.
