Anna L Cooper

March 3, 1932 ~ February 11, 2021 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

After a busy day much like any other, helping to run the family restaurant and marina business, Anna L. Cooper passed away unexpectedly at the age of 88 in her Isles of Capri home on Thursday, February 11th, 2021. She is preceded in death by her spouse, Mickey Cooper and is survived by her 2 sons; Michael Cooper, married to Debbie Cooper; Mitchell Cooper, preceded in death by Karyn Cooper; and her 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; as well as her two local nieces; Randi Allan and Sunny Hilmer and their families.
Anna was born in Norton, Virginia in 1932 and grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee where she met her late husband, Mickey Cooper. They moved to Lake City, Tennessee and raised their two sons. The family then moved to Naples, Florida in 1979 where they worked together to establish The Pelican Bend Marina and Restaurant on the Isles of Capri. She played a major role in the day-to-day workings of the business, working tirelessly to make sure ordering was done, bills were paid, and the door was open! Anna was honest and fair to a fault while holding steadfast adherence to her own bottom line. She loved visiting with friends, relatives and patrons who looked forward to returning to the restaurant year after year!
Anna cherished her family and knew that she was blessed that many lived on and around the Isles of Capri. In her later years, she would travel to North Georgia each September for a family reunion. Her brothers Robert Arnold, Bill Arnold, and their families, as well as a host of long-lost relatives and friends, would all show up for Anna’s late summer gathering. Anna and her brothers would reminisce and enjoy the happy energy of the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren as they watched them play on the hillside. Home cooked food, endless conversation, laughter and of course mountain music was shared by all.
The Isles of Capri and its visitors will miss Anna, as this special place has been her home for over 40 years. Her sweet smile and friendly chatter with neighbors as she walked her dog, April, will be remembered by islanders for years to come.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor later this spring.
