Clark H. Smith

March 13, 1929 ~ September 8, 2022 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Tribute

Clark, 93, passed away September 8, 2022. He is survived by two natural children, Clark (wife Linda) and Steven (wife Deirdre) and two adopted children Peggy (Husband Scott) and Doug (wife Betsy). Clark was also grateful for his loving companion of recent years, Mary Giles. Clark had three grandchildren, Matthew, Alec, and Madison of whom he was very proud. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Jeanne (Perrier).

Clark was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he worked in the lab of the famed polio vaccine inventor, Dr. Jonas Salk. Clark joined the U.S. Marine Corp and became an aircraft navigator while serving in the Korean War. He was stationed at El Toro Marine Corp Air Station in Tustin, CA.

Clark's friendly demeanor made him a natural salesperson. His interest in business and financial markets led him to become a stockbroker with AG Edwards and Stifel. Clark was a devout Christian and was active in several ministries at Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church. He was an assistant scoutmaster with the Boys Scout Troop. He was also devoted to several charitable causes for the less fortunate. Clark volunteered at Naples Community Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, Grace Place, and Ava Maria. He was passionate about the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and shared that enthusiasm with all that knew him. Any donations are asked to be to the Habitat for Humanity as requested by Clark. A memorial of his wonderful life will be held at the Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m. on September 17, 2022.
