Dorothy Ann Fello, peacefully passed on to the Lord on October 19th, 2023, at her home, surrounded by family and friends She was born on July 5th, 1928 in New York, New York. She was the loving daughter of the late William and Bertha Fello, and sister of the late Anthony Fello.
Dorothy graduated from Fordham University in New York, New York with a Master’s in Education. She first started teaching first grade at Garden School, one of the best private schools in the whole of New York State. Due to her hard work, amazing personality, and deep love of children, she was promoted to principal, and fulfilled that position until her retirement.
Dorothy was a devout Catholic and for many years belonged to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hewitt, NJ where she lived in her beloved cabin located on Beautiful Greenwood Lake. Dorothy was a social butterfly and loved to share her happiness with all her friends in the lakeside community. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends as much as possible. Whether it was traveling the world with her lifelong sister-friend, Mary Clark, or attending Saturday Mass and having a nice dinner together with Mary and her close friend, Pat Romanovich, Dorothy savored every day with a positive, happy spirit.
Dorothy just loved to help people, to the point of taking in, and raising her nephew, Richard (Ricky) Christmann Jr. She was his guide and inspiration, and is, even unto this day. “Aunt Dotsie” also spent many summers bringing all her nieces and nephews up to West Milford, NJ to her cabin on the lake where they swam and had great, memorable times. She was the most loving and selfless person. She would help anyone who needed help – family or not.
Dorothy lost her lifelong friend and “sister”, Mary Clark in 2021. She is survived by her loving nephew, Richard H. Christmann, Jr. whom she raised as her own son. She is also survived by her loving and dear friend, Pat Romanovich, and cousin, Jimmy Furgison.
The Memorial Mass Service will be held on December 7th at 1:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church at 5130 Rattlesnake Road, Naples, Florida 34113.
