Dorothy Gueritey

January 22, 2023

Tribute

Dorothy Bovier Gueritey, beloved wife of Harold for 56 years, passed away with dignity and grace on January 22, 2023. Born on March 19, 1943 in Towanda, Pennsylvania, Dot spent her formative years at Sunnehanna Country Club before going on to college at Fairleigh Dickinson University where she majored in mathematics. Dot’s greatest passion was raising her 3 daughters, Michelle, Kimberly and Suzie, and doting on her 5 grandchildren, Andrew, Evie, Carsen, Kensey and Sedona. She was an avid reader, gardener, cross-stitcher and homemaker, typically cooking 3 meals a day right up until she and Hal retired, at which point she closed her oven and never turned it on again. Dot and Hal enjoyed over 20 years of retirement on Marco Island. Their time walking the beach was interspersed with travel to Australia and Europe, and cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal. But she was always eager to return to her beautiful condo, where she remained living independently until her passing. Dot’s kindness will be greatly missed by her step-granddaughters Tessa and Tatum, her spunk will be missed by her sons-in-law Neal and Art, and her compassionate listening will be missed by the many people she touched. Dot was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents Ralph and Alice Bovier, her sister Ruth Witt, and her sisters-in-law Pat Weston and Gail Tynes, who she helped to raise. We will miss her desperately but will think of her each time we eat her favorite treat, chocolate covered potato chips – sweet and a little salty – just like Dot.
