Ed passed away peacefully,  July 19th, with family and a friend by his side.  He is survived by his Sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Brian Heerey, and two children by a previous marriage, 
Edward T. Smith and Eileen Koepplinger and Granddaughter Kaitlyn Marie Koepplinger.  Proceeded in death were his wife of 43 years, Betty Blevins Smith and parents Hilda and Edward R. Smith.
 
Ed was a member of Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Naples, Florida, a long time member of The Ocean Club on Alantic Beach, New York, and Countryside Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida.
 
Ed represented Local #l, Elevator Union, as a Trustee from 1974-1982.  In 1982 he was elected Secretary/Treasurer and became Annuity and Safety Committee Chairman.  In 1991 he was elected to the International Labor Committee.  In 1999 he retired after 43 years of service. A Mass will be held on Monday, July 26 at 1:30 PM at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Naples and a Celebration of Life at Countryside Golf and Country Club later this year.
