Ernestine M. Stackpole

January 24, 1933 ~ January 11, 2023 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Ernestine Marie (Martin) Stackpole, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family January 11, 2023. Ernie was born January 24, 1933 in Wallagrass, Maine to Ernest and Alexis (Saucier) Martin. She moved to South Berwick at the age of 7 where she continued school and helped raise her 4 siblings. She met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Stackpole, married 63 years, and they resided in Somersworth, NH where they raised their two children Susan and Jon (Jesse).

Ernie and Bob became seasonal residents of Florida in the early 70’s where they assisted in the development of Riverwood Estates and built their first home on Marco Island in 1985. Ernie enjoyed the many years spent across Maine, Florida, and their beloved home in Georgia, where she spent most recent summers making memories with her husband, son, and close friends. In addition to her love for music and crafting, her lifelong passion for nature and animals was evident by the countless hours she would spend outdoors gardening, reading, and singing with her guitar.

Her greatest joy though was her family. Ernie loved them more than life itself and it showed in the way she spoke and stories told. Her strength and fierce love for life will live on through each of them.

Ernie is predeceased by her parents; Ernest and Alexis Martin; and her sister Doris Mustin.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband Bob Stackpole of Naples, FL; daughter, Susan (Anastasios) Dangas of Dover, NH; and son Jon Stackpole of Naples, FL. She also leaves behind her brothers and sister, Beatrice Triano of New Durham, Roland Gene Martin of Rochester, and Edgar E. Martin of Montana, as well as 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
