Harold C Gueritey

June 17, 1939 ~ January 6, 2021 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Tribute

On January 6, 2021 the world lost one of the great ones. Harold C. Gueritey Jr., beloved husband of Dorothy (Bovier) for 56 years, died after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born June 17, 1939 in Passaic, New Jersey, Hal (“Butch” in his early years) was an enigma. A proud Marine and staunch conservative, Hal once organized a sit-in as Student Body President at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Hal was incredibly proud of his 20 year career as Corporate Controller at Parker Hannifin, but was perhaps equally proud of his subsequent unofficial career as Tide Monitor and Weather Watcher on Marco Island, Florida. When not playing golf or singing along with John Denver, the Kingston Trio and the Tokens, Hal could be found screaming at the Cleveland Browns on the television. A great story-teller, a fair joke-teller, and a lousy magician, Hal did all three with gusto! By far his greatest pride and joy were his 3 daughters, Michelle, Kim and Suzie, and his 5 grandchildren, Andrew, Eve, Carsen, Kensey and Sedona. Hal truly had a positive impact on everyone he knew. He was a tremendous big brother to Gail, mentor to sons-in-law Neal and Art, role model to step-granddaughters Tessa and Tatum, and friend to all who knew him. Hal was preceded in death by his mother Katherine, his father Harold, his sister Patricia, and Shadow and Kitty, the “damn cats” that he secretly adored. Upon his death we said “Inconceivable”, and heard a distant voice replying, “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means”.
