Ervin, Harry Clay age 95, of Marco Island, FL and Edina, MN, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 14, 2024. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Valentini (Chris) of Angwin, CA and grandson Jacob R. Anderson (wife Delaney and father William Anderson) of Minneapolis, MN.

Harry was born on January 29, 1929, to Harry Clay and Marien (McFadden) Ervin in St. Cloud, MN. He attended St. Cloud Tech High School and graduated from St. Cloud State University with an accounting degree. In 1951, he married Nancy (Berg) his loving wife of 64 years; entered the US Navy OCS in Newport, RI and subsequently reported to duty aboard a patrol craft during the Korean War. After discharge from active duty with the Navy he remained on active reserve for 31 years retiring as Captain.

He spent his career in the investment business in Minneapolis for firms: White Weld & Co., A.G. Becker, Tucker Anthony and Dain Bosworth. He sat on the boards of Hutchinson Technology, Bayshore Bank and was a founder and President of Deer Run Country Club (Chaska, MN). In 1996, he and Nancy retired to Marco Island, FL.

Harry was a bit of a renaissance man. He was an avid gardener and a lover and scholar of classical music with season tickets for the Minnesota Orchestra and Naples Philharmonic. He had a natural athletic ability, played hockey as a child, loved skiing, tennis and golf and rarely missed watching the Minnesota Vikings. He loved the outdoors, especially his times duck hunting at his beloved camp on Lake Olaf and his annual fishing adventures. He always enjoyed a great meal, especially if he cooked it, and loved his time with friends having a good Rob Roy at Charlie’s, Harry’s and the Court Bar in Minneapolis.

He was an active member at Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina since 1963 and served as a Deacon and Elder, in addition to being a choir member for 33 years. He loved flying and began lessons as a teenager, he eventually had his own plane flying family and friends to memorable destinations.

Harry was pre-deceased by his wife, Nancy; daughter Martha Ervin Anderson; sisters Jean, Patricia, Ann and twin sister Mary.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful care givers these past few years, Janel, Jayne, Karen and Jeneve. You each enriched his life and made his days brighter.

A memorial service will be held 11 am on Tuesday April 30th at Marco Presbyterian Church (875 W Elkcam Circle). In lieu of flowers, memorials to Marco Presbyterian Church.
