James Daly, a resident of Naples, Fl, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 18, at the age of 66. He was born in Brockton, Ma. on October 8, 1955. He is survived by his loving wife Susan Arnberg and his beloved stepdaughter Colleen McGhee French (Richard) of Wellesley, Ma. Jim is the son of the late Francis P. and Mary Daly.
Jim earned a JD degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and an LLM in taxation law from New York University School of Law as well as an MBA in marketing and strategic management from the University of Illinois Chicago. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Rhode Island achieving a BS in business.
Jim had an extensive career as a wise and trusted tax counsel.  He started his tax journey at Coopers & Lybrand and then went to work for Kraft Foods in 1988.  Over his career his responsibilities increased significantly, and he moved many times in service of the company (Chicago, NYC, London and in Switzerland: Zurich and Lausanne) transitioning from Kraft to Philip Morris and then Mondelez as the company and his responsibilities grew.  During his brilliant career, Jim made positive contributions to the company leading to significant tax savings (tax audit defense / tax efficient business models) as well as developing and mentoring numerous tax professionals. He retired in 2015 as Mondelez’s Senior Director of International Tax Planning.
Jim is also survived by his large and loving family of two brothers and four sisters and their spouses: Francis Daly (Barbara Hunt) of Waldoboro, Me, Cheryl Daly of New York City, Joseph Daly (Angela Stanziano) of New Canaan, Ct and Narragansett, RI; Deborah Daly of Dublin, OH, Joanne Daly (Guy Millick) of Narragansett, RI, Mary Daly (Michael McMahon) of Kingston, RI as well as his brother-in-law William Arnberg of Port Charlotte, Fl, 11 adoring nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Jim’s life will be celebrated at a later date in three places he loved: Chicago, London and Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches .
