Tribute

Janis Lynn Wachter
Age 78, of Naples Florida passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 28th, 2023. A true gardener with a green thumb always had a beautiful yard with rock gardens adorned with flowers blossoming throughout the year.
Jan graduated high school from Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and went on to Radiology school. She married her high school sweetheart Chuck on February 20th, 1965, and shortly thereafter had two children, Cari and Charlie. After graduating as a Radiologist Jan and Chuck moved to Minneapolis where Jan worked in the x-ray department at Mercy Hospital for most of her career. Jan loved to garden, each year it seemed the gardens grew bigger, and the grass areas grew smaller. Over her life, she dabbled in many hobbies including stained glass, pottery, and jewelry making but always came back to her gardens. She loved being a grandma and never missed an opportunity to go to a ball game, a dance recital, or a swim meet. She loved to travel and visited Mexico for the Monarch butterfly migration, scuba-dived in Bonaire, and toured the African outback on safari; in addition to zipping around the country to visit her children and grandchildren. Jan loved animals and especially Layla, her faithful companion as she adjusted to living in the warm weather of Naples. In Naples, she continued her love of gardening by filling her lanai with orchids where they enjoyed the warm humid weather. She enjoyed walks on the beach, caring for the habitat of sea turtles, and visiting the botanical gardens. Jan was kind and caring and easily made friends wherever she went. The family takes solace in knowing she’s at peace and back with her high school sweetheart Chuck. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband Chuck Wachter, brother Dale Majerus, sister Patty Brethouwer; and parents Bernie and Ruth Majerus. Survived by children Carissa Stenzel (Mark) and Chuck Wachter (Becky); and grandchildren, Zachary (Ashley), Lauren (Iscar), Charlotte (Oliver), Clara, and Charlie; brother David Majerus; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Mackinley, Eloise, Violet, Avery, and faithful companion, Layla. A celebration of her life is planned for 5 pm Wednesday, June 21st at the pool area of 5985 Bloomfield, Naples. Additional services are being planned in Minneapolis, MN, and private inurnment in Sheboygan Falls, WI.
