Jill Blodgett Polito, age 69, beloved Wife, Mother, Gram, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, Friend, Teacher, and Mentor went to Heaven on October 10, 2021.
She was born in Great Barrington MA to James and Aurelia (Graham) Blodgett. She grew up in a small town, Falls Village, in the heart of the beautiful Berkshires of Connecticut. She graduated from Vermont College with a degree in Medical Technology. Her laboratory career spanned more than four decades teaching Medical Technology students, Residents, and Fellows in Microscopy and Hematologic Morphology.
She was predeceased by her Father James H. Blodgett. She is survived by her husband of 38 years Frank, mother Aurelia Blodgett, daughter Kate (Steven) Pierce, grandchildren David and Adeline Pierce, sisters Laurie (David) Parmelee, Allison Blodgett, Susan (Berkeley) Kelsey, in-laws Concetta Polito, Maria Polito, Diane (Bob) Chenkus, Tony (Nancy) Polito, and an extended Italian family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Anyone who met Jill loved her like family. She was funny and bright and was regarded by all as a great cook. She was also an exceptional baker, known for her famous cakes, pies, and Christmas cookies. She had a deep appreciation for beautiful flowers. Her vegetable and flower gardens, particularly her peonies, were always the envy of the neighborhood.
Please honor her memory by performing small acts of kindness. Do chores for an elderly neighbor, invite someone over for a hot meal, or bring someone fresh baked goods. Share funny stories about Jill. Now is not the time to mourn, but to celebrate her life.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 21 from 6-8 pm and Friday, October 22 from 9-11 am at the Newkirk –Palmer Funeral Home in Canaan CT. A celebration of life will be held on Friday October 22 at 1pm at the Falls Village Congregational church in Falls Village CT.
