Joyce Elaine Hein

Joyce Elaine Hein, 98 years of age, died on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024. Joyce was born on February 21, 1926 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the daughter of Latona Pocednik and Paul Mortensen. Joyce graduated from Oshkosh State College with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was a kindergarten teacher and taught at Lakeview School in Neenah, Wisconsin. She married C. Edmund Hein on October 11, 1958 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, in 2019 and cousins Sylvia, Rhea, Myra, Ruth, and Rosemary.

Ed and Joyce travelled extensively around the world, visiting many countries including Europe, Morocco, Egypt, Jerusalem, and Russia.  They also travelled extensively in the US and Canada.

Ed and Joyce lived in many places throughout their life together.  They enjoyed living by water- Lake Winnebago, Horsehead Lake, the Fox River in Wisconsin, and the Gulf of Mexico near Fort Myers Beach, Florida.  They spent many summers in Nashville and the Smoky Mountains area while Ed earned his degree at Peabody- Vanderbilt University.

A celebration of life will be held at Joyce’s residence, Discovery Village in Naples, Florida on April 3rd at 11:00 am.

A memorial service and internment will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 2:30 pm at Lakeview Memorial Chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Visitation will be at the Lakeview Chapel from 1:30 until the time of the service.
