November 20, 1947 – July 16, 2021
On Friday, July 16, 2021 Katherine Jeanne Nelson Haar spread her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 73 years old.
Kathy Haar was a teacher for Collier County Public Schools for 44 years where she impacted the lives of many children. She was the true definition of an unsung hero and a warrior. Her love for helping those around her, no matter what capacity, is something she was notorious for.
She never hesitated to lend a helping hand, especially when it came to her students. She did these things not out of obligation but rather because this was the type of person she was.
She was the biological mother to Ronnie, Kim, and Jacki however many others considered her to be their surrogate mom and often referred to her as “Mama Haar”. She always ensured that every child that came into her world was always safe, healthy, happy and felt the unconditional love and support that every child deserves.
Kathy was welcomed home into the loving arms of her deceased husband, Ron “Bozo” Haar, her parents Norbert and Marguerite Nelson, and her brother Michael Nelson.
She’s survived by her sister Margie (Steve) Wright, Ronnie (Carlie) Haar, Kim (Bruce) Snyder and Jacki Haar, her mother in law Betty (Cal) Haar, and sister in law Sue (Mike) Nelson. She will also live on through her grandchildren Dustin (20) and Kylee (15) Snyder, Makayla Haar (15), Ronnie Haar III (6) and Katherine Haar-Attwood (4).
The family invites you to join them for a visitation/celebration on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 4pm – 7pm at Fuller Funeral Home 4375 Tamiami Trail East Naples, FL 34112.
Her family decided that in lieu of flowers, donations to the Colby Singletary Scholarship fund in her name would continue her legacy as she always was a huge fan of youth sports.
