Katherine Postle Hayes

August 6, 1956 ~ June 13, 2021 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Tribute

Katherine Postle Hayes (Kate) age 64, died on June 13, 2021, surrounded by her family who will miss her so much. We lost a cherished mom, much loved companion, sister, aunt, best friend and role model.

Kate was born to the late Harry H. Postle and Margaret Bennett Postle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Alasdair Hayes. Kate is survived by her daughter she adored, Elizabeth Hayes Hoffmann (Victor), her companion Glen Lause, sister Elizabeth Postle Henry (George), brother Harry H. Postle III (Wendy), in-laws, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. The most giving woman you will ever meet, Kate’s warmth and positivity shined through her radiant smile, big blue eyes and infectious sense of humour. She was always so full of life and light, with an uncanny ability to brighten every room she walked into.

Kate grew up in Columbus, Ohio where she went to Upper Arlington schools K-12, graduating in 1974. She received her Bachelor of Science from the Ohio State University in 1978 and went on to receive her MBA from Tulane University in 1987, where she met her husband Alasdair. After graduation, the two got married and moved to Toronto, where she began her highly successful career in the investment industry as an institutional stock broker. Her first day, October 19, 1987 is commonly known as ‘Black Monday’. Kate took her first day of work in stride and said: “at least there is only one way to go from here - UP!”. Kate proved to be incredibly skilled and successful for both firms she worked for, Cowan and Company and later Morgan Keegan.

Above all, Kate was incredibly devoted to her family and friends. She was incredibly excited when she retired and could focus on this new chapter in her life. Nothing made her happier than being a full-time mom and spending time with her family (including the family dogs Sam, Sidney and Charlotte, who were treated like royalty)! The family loved enjoying time in Muskoka together, playing golf, boating and enjoying every minute of daylight, eating late dinners out on the porch past sunset. The three musketeers went on countless, wonderful trips together, exploring the world, making memories and living life to the fullest.

In recent years, Kate was thrilled to be back in the sunshine and warm weather, residing in Naples, FL where she had many close friends, both old and new. She loved playing golf, her mother daughter outings and exploring all the wonderful activities that Naples has to offer.  She was blessed and delighted to meet and spend time with her significant other Glen, who was immediately attracted to Kate’s fun-loving, bright and happy outlook on life. Kate was loved immediately by all who knew her.

At Kate’s request, her life will be celebrated with family and friends throughout the coming months. If desired, gifts can be made, in honour of Kates memory, to the Alasdair and Katherine Hayes Memorial Fund, co the Toronto Foundation, 33 Bloor St. East, Suite 1603, Toronto ON M4W 3H1 Canada, Tel 416-921-2035.

We love our ray of sunshine to the moon and back, infinity and beyond. Forever in our hearts.
