Maude Slaton Randall

January 13, 1922 ~ June 27, 2021 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Tribute

Maude (Slaton) Randall, age 99, passed away on Sunday June 27, 2021, at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida. Born on January 13, 1922, in the town of Mt. Ash, Kentucky, she was the oldest daughter of 9 children to the late Connie and Fannie (Davenport) Slaton.

After attending Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY, and teaching school in a one-room schoolhouse, Maude moved with the family to Dayton, Ohio. She attended the University of Dayton where she graduated with a B.S Degree in Education. She worked in the field of education for 25 years as an elementary school teacher. After completing her master’s degree at Miami University in Ohio, she worked another 9 years as a school service advisor and mathematics supervisor at 4 different middle schools in the Dayton area.

Maude met her late husband Robert Randall in Dayton. They married, raised two children, and finally retired from their jobs in Dayton. After a few years of being “snowbirds” wintering in Naples, Florida, they finally moved to Naples permanently in 1991. They purchased a new home in Glen Eagle Golf and Country Club and enjoyed their retirement life together golfing, cruising, and travelling until Robert’s death in 2006. They were married for 58 years.

Maude enjoyed her 30 years of life in Glen Eagle and became a popular partner in the ladies’ golf leagues (both at the Glen Eagle club and with the Collier County league). She cherished the friendships that she made during her retirement, and celebrated several tournament wins and two holes-in-one before vascular surgery “slowed her down” in 2015. That did not stop her from continuing to cruise until recently, after earning her “Silver Medallion” from Holland America Line and logging 371 days at sea with them.

Maude was preceded in death by her older brother Clifford Slaton, her younger sister Ruth (Slaton) Bayse, and her younger brothers Cornelius Slaton and Eugene Slaton. She is survived by her younger sisters Mossie (Slaton) Bunch, Pauline (Slaton) Kennedy, and Evelyn (Slaton) Green, and her younger brother Clyde Slaton.

Maude is survived by her daughter, Margo Rada and her husband Charles, and son Douglas Randall and his wife Miriam. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Charlene (Rada) Paul, Catherine Rada, Lilian (Randall) Richie, Nathan Randall, Elise (Randall) Fox, and Eric Randall. She is also survived by one great-grandchild: Kirin Fox.

Cremation will be private and is entrusted to Fuller Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 8th from 10:00-12:00 at Fuller Funeral Home, 4735 Tamiami Trail East, Naples, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew's House (stmatthewshouse.org) and Avow Hospice (avowcares.org).
