Roy Lee “Bud” Ingram passed on March 14, 2023, just one day shy of his 89th birthday. Buddy was born in Tarrant, Alabama to the late Roy Edward Ingram and Caddie Lucille Prosch Ingram. His family moved to Naples in the early 50s where he graduated from the original Naples High School and then from the University of Florida with a degree in Business Administration. Following college, he joined the US Army as a Cryptographer stationed in Germany, was honorably discharged, and then returned to Naples to manage the family business, Ingram’s Hardware on 5th Avenue South, which was the first hardware and appliance store in Naples.
His greatest joys in life were recreating with his family which included beach camping, many fishing and diving trips to the Keys, and road trips throughout the US and Canada. He also enjoyed growing all forms of citrus, mangos, and avocados among his favorites, which he generously shared with family, friends, and many people he barely knew. Bud was the kind of man that would literally give his shirt off of his own back. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Ann “Clardy” Ingram, his two sons Douglas and David (Yvonne), and his grandchildren Thomas, Skylar, Fisher, and Kendall. He was preceded in death by his two sisters Margaret “Maggie” Smithson and Barbara “Babs” Ruhl.
He will be honored at a crypt side service at Naples Memorial Gardens on May 20. In remembrance, please enjoy being outside with family and friends while planting something to enjoy watching it grow the way he did.
