Tribute

Salvatore Joseph DiFazio passed away on January 20, 2021, in Naples, Florida. Sal’s life was filled with so many blessings for 96 years old. He was a special man whose family was the most important part of his life. Sal was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Sal was born in the Bronx, NY on March 9, 1924. His parents were Marianna Liosi and Benedetto DiFazio, proud immigrants from Sicily, who married and raised their family in the Bronx, NY. Sal was an Army veteran of World War II, and served as a Medic in the 85th Division 339th Infantry, 1943-1945. After proudly serving our country, he returned home and married his beloved Ruth Rose Sicilia on July 21, 1946. They were devoted to one another for 74 years. After spending the first few years of their marriage working and starting a family in Parkchester, the Bronx, NY, Sal so happily moved his growing family to the small town of Mt. Kisco, NY in 1956. This special town was home for 45 years. He was a daily commuter to NYC with many others from this town. Sal was a member of the Mt. Kisco family of St. Francis of Assisi Church, a member of the Sisqua Council of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the American Legion Post 136.
Sal is survived by his devoted wife Ruth, their children Loretta (Francis), Michael (Nancy), and Thomas. Also surviving are his grandchildren Robert, Julie (Craig), Michael, Lori (Jason), Thomas (Lana), Dayna, and Daniel. Sal was blessed to share many years with his great-grandchildren, Leila, Jackson, Sadie, Faith, and Dakota. He is also survived by his brother Anthony DiFazio, and many nieces and nephews. Sal was pre-deceased by his parents, his sisters Betty Buatti and Florence DiSalvo, and his nephew Anthony Buatti. Sal will be waiting in Heaven to have his loving wife Ruth by his side. At that time they will be joined together again and a Mass of celebration will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, and burial at St. Francis Cemetery, ‘back home’ as they both have always said, in Mt. Kisco, NY.
