Long time Naples, FL resident, Shirley Ann Mitchell, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 3, 2021. Born on March 11, 1936, she was 85 years old. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Mitchell, Jr. She is survived by her four sons, Steven, Douglas, Scott, and Gregg, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mitchell was laid to rest in a private, family ceremony at Naples Memorial Gardens.
A graduate of Upper Darby High School in suburban Philadelphia, PA, Shirley began a career in business, which she put on hold to raise her family. As her boys approached adulthood, she and her husband founded George Mitchell Associates, Inc., in 1975. They operated the business together until George’s death in 2012, after which Shirley led the corporation.
Always a woman of strong faith, she committed herself to prayer in her later years, offering an infectious hope to all for whom she prayed. A complex, nuanced and beautiful person, she was both intensely practical and sweetly sentimental. Throughout a long and fruitful life, Mrs. Mitchell was a reliable source of strength and support for her family and friends. Her cheerful smile could light up a room!
A public Celebration of Life Memorial is planned in the near future at her church, New Hope Ministries, Naples.
