Susan Garrison Robideau of Naples, died October 25, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family. Sue was born in Camden, NJ, on November 11, 1947. For 30 years she was a proud Navy wife, married to Lawrence A. Robideau, a Senior Chief Petty Officer, who preceded her in death in July, 2011.
A member of the Riviera Golf Estates community, Sue was often found helping her friends and neighbors. She was lovingly referred to as “the keeper of the keys” or the “mayor” because she took care of so many condos while friends and neighbors were up North. She was also the “keeper of the rain gauge”, always reminding others when it was going to storm, especially during hurricane season. Twice a year she could be counted on to remind everyone to “fall back” or “spring forward”. She was an avid reader, worked the newspaper crossword puzzles daily, clipped coupons and other useful articles for family and friends. Exercise was important to her. She walked daily and loved the pool.
Though Sue was a quiet woman, she had many friends and enjoyed a busy social life. She played Mexican Train weekly, participated in book clubs, and gathered for activities and potlucks around the community pool. She was an enthusiastic Phillies and Eagles fan.
Sue’s selfless dedication to her beloved Larry’s kids (who she graciously and unofficially adopted) was the glue that held the family together. She was a good listener and each person came away from their conversations feeling like they were the most important person to her. She spent countless hours sending out cards and letters to her sons, daughters, 23 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.
Sue will be dearly missed by her family including her daughters Karen (Daniel) Godin of Phenix City, AL, and Ruth Robideau of Lakeland, FL; sons, Paul of Miami, FL, and James (Robin) of North Port, FL; 23 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and her cousin Ray (Laurel) Garrison of West Collingswood, NJ. Susan was preceded in death by her parents Grant “Doc” and Mavis Lee (Foster) Garrison; brother, William Garrison; daughter, Patricia (Robideau) Gifford; son, Michael Robideau.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4, at 2:30 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 4735 Tamiami Trail East. The family will receive visitors beginning at 2:00 p.m.
