Thomas Collins, 95, of Naples, passed away September 14th, 2021. Born on September 7th, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Thomas Collins and Mary Ellen Kealy.
Thomas was a WWII combat veteran who served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He joined the NYPD in 1948 and was a decorated officer. He retired as a Captain and commanding officer of the 114th Precinct in Queens.
Thomas was married to Rita McGinley on November 29, 1952 at St. Virgilius Roman Catholic Church in Broad Channel, NY. They had three sons, Thomas, Edward, and James. Thomas moved to Naples, FL in 1981 when he retired from the NYPD.
Thomas is survived by his sons Thomas and James, and his good friend Mary Cheney.
He was predeceased by his wife Rita, his son Edward, and his sister Eileen Torpey.
The funeral mass will be held at 2 pm Monday, September 27th at Saint Elizabeth Seton, 5225 Golden Gate Parkway, Naples.
